Climbing The Walls.
I can't talk, I got to go"Climbing the walls" -They Might Be Giants
Don't call me back, I won't get the door
Got to focus on the job
'Cause I got a new job climbing the walls
I was grinding my teeth, I was wasting my youth
And using up my teeth
Now I'm done chewing my nails
Hanging my head, chasing my tail
It got so bad I quit my job
Then I got a new job climbing the walls
Too much junk, too much junk
Can we please clear out this house?
In the trunk, in the trunk
And then we'll take it all to the dump
Then we won't need the car
'Cause we'll stay where we are
And I'll have all this room
I got tired of pacing the floor
Sick of it all, I'm done with the floor
Walked away ever since I got a new job climbing the walls
I was grinding my teeth, I was wasting my youth
And using up my teeth
Now I'm done chewing my nails
Hanging my head, chasing my tail
It got so bad I quit my job
Then I got a new job climbing the walls
The deep end, the deep end
People talk a lot, but they don't know
They pretend, they pretend
They don't really know how deep it goes
Now I misunderstood,
Thought the wall was just good
For staring blankly at
I got tired of pacing the floor
Sick of it all, I'm done with the floor
Walked away ever since I got a new job climbing the walls
Now I'm done chewing my nails
Hanging my head, chasing my tail
It got so bad I quit my job
Then I got a new job climbing the walls
Got a new job climbing the walls
Got a new job climbing the walls
If you haven't listened to their new album you should give it a looky see. That song in particular is my favorite (you can check out a piece of it at http://www.last.fm/music/They+Might+Be+Giants/_/Climbing+the+Walls )
After the show wrapped up in Temecula (around August 10th) Zak and I scrambled to pack all the equipment up and get to our respective homes as quickly as we could. 3 months of working on the road and one goes a little crazy...
It's ashame I had no home to go to.
So instead I scrambled to Enterprise, rented a car, swapped some of my clothes at my storage space (preparing for Japan), grabbed a months worth of mail from my old roomy Matt, and drove to my parents in Nevada.
I got to my parents on Friday morning and spent the day biking through Reno and shopping for business clothes with my mom- both very mother/son activities :)
It was kind of weird though because the town was full of really old cars for a weekend car show. I felt like I was in some weird "Grease" remake.
Got pizza that night and just relaxed with the 'rents and played with Chester. Aw...I miss having that little duder around.
Checked out my dad's new truck too. He got all psyched for the house their going to be building in Montana and decided he needed a truck NOW! It seems the F150's have gotten bigger over time, it's pretty freaking huge.
It reminded me of the old blue truck he had when I was a kid (remember that Danny?). We used to drive into the woods with it to chop down wood. He'd hack away at the trees and I'd run around with my toy chainsaw waiting for him to cue me when to yell "Tiiiiiiimberrrrrr!"
Old Blue was also used to plow the driveway in the winter, eventually replaced with an equally large snow blower (the thing had it's own "room" you stood in as you pushed it).
The next day was spent running some more pre-Japan errands and then hiking with the 'rents, then driving through Reno again to check out a bunch of gorgeous old boats. Apparently if you have a car show you might as well have a boat show?

It was very nostalgic. My grandfather had 2 boats, a Chris Craft and a Limen. Both of which were gorgeous wooden boats, much like the ones above.

This was the Best In Show boat. You have to admit it's pretty badass.
If I owned it I would drive it around while wearing a white tuxedo, and women in white bikinis would sun bathe on the bow as we drank champagne.
Then they'd help me fight sea monsters with harpoon guns while still in their bikinis.

This bad boy didn't win any awards...but it did have a 12 cylinder exposed engine that made your ears bleed when it started up. I wish I could have seen this thing running wide-open in the water...
That night we ate sushi and drank sake with my parents neighbors. Unfortunately the sushi wasn't too good, so my parents got a bad impression of it. It's strange, I never liked sushi too much, but over the past few years the more I've eaten it the more I've come to enjoy it. Just reminds me of the days back in college when Elise would get it at Wegmans and try to make me eat it. Now I'm about to disembark to the land where it is a staple food...
The next morning I went golfing with the 'rents on their private little golf course! Haha...it was actually pretty fun, just putzin' around on this awkwardly small 150-yard-holes course, using only a pitching wedge and a putter. Every now and then my dad and I would get antsy and clobber a couple golf balls with his driver and watch them fly 300 yards out into the mountains.
Shortly after I had to make my way back to LA for my flight out the next day. Hopefully when I get back from Japan I can spend a week with my parents, I hate visiting people and feeling rushed.
The old man and I.
A mom that smiles despite her son that keeps wigging out and traveling to far places.
So that afternoon I made the epic road trip back to LA. At one point, once it was dark out, I pulled over to rest. Of course just as I started to fall asleep there was a painfully bright light shining into my car, followed soon after by a butchy cop with an equally bright flashlight to shine in my face.
Down the road a building's alarm went off and I was the only car in the area, therefore making me prime suspect numero uno.
After a few exchanged words...and ID's...the cop was on her way. Of course at that point I was pretty wide awake, so I went back to driving home.
By the time I got back to LA (where I would buy some toiletries and then crash at Steve's for the night) I had finished book 4 of Harry Potter.
Mad Eye Moody is the shit.
